Our employees are one of our greatest assets. We support our employees’ involvement in the community through various programs. All year long, Edison employees and retirees can be found volunteering at local food banks, beach clean-ups, school fundraisers, and charity races. Many say that the greatest gift is time. Our employees are generous with their time and talent through our Employee Volunteer Program. Last year our employees and retirees contributed more than 252,000 hours to the community and participated in 152 corporate-sponsored volunteer projects. As 2011 was the 125 Anniversary of our company, we celebrated by participating in 125 Days of Service.
Many say time is money. We reward the time given through our volunteer program with a Dollars for Doers program. This program provides an opportunity for our employees and retirees to direct grants to their selected non-profit organizations and schools based on their annual volunteer hours.
Our Matching Gift program is designed to encourage employees to join the company in providing financial support for education. We match employee contributions dollar-for-dollar up to $2,000 a year to accredited educational institutions and the Energy Assistance Fund (EAF) for low-income customers.
Our employees believe that giving back to our community is very important. Through our Employee Giving program, which includes the annual Employee Contributions Campaign, employees pledged and raised more than $4.2 million for non-profit organizations and schools in our region that meet the needs of our communities.
“I give because I think it important that we take care of each other and the planet,” says Edison International employee, Jenna Lavin.
“As a product of a single parent many people contributed to my upbringing, and to whom much is given much is expected,” says Southern California Edison employee, Tarrance Frierson.
*Corporate contributions are paid for by Edison International shareholders, and not by utility customers.
