Peak Load
The highest load on an electrical system or generator occurring during a particular period of time.

Phase
Voltage carrying conductor.

Pool Pump & Motor Replacement Rebate Program
SCE program where customers can get money back on the purchase and installation of a two-speed or a variable-speed pool pump. This program is offered on a first-come, first-served basis and is effective until funding is expended or the program is discontinued by the California Public Utilities Commission. Learn more.

Positive
The point of any circuit from which the current flows.

Potential
The pressure or voltage forcing electrical current through a circuit.

Potential Link
Also knows as a POT LINK. Testing device located in the meter to open the potential coil resulting in no disk rotation.

Pothead
A device shaped like a pot or bell attached to the end of a cable which is used to attach the cable to a wire or overhead conductor.

Power Circuit Breaker
This breaker will open the circuit under fault or overload conditions.

Power Factor
The ratio of true power (watts) to apparent power (volts x amperes).

Power Grid
Electricity produced in a power plant that is relayed from transmission lines to power poles then into homes and businesses.

Power Marketer or "Seller"
An entity that takes title to electric power generated by another entity, and sells that power. A power marketer may or may not be affiliated with a traditional electric utility.

Power Source Adjustment
A source of revenue based on the efficiency/inefficiency of customer equipment.

Primary Lines
High-voltage lines (4 kV, 6.9 W 12 kV, 16 kV, etc.) used to carry power from the substation to the immediate area to be transformed to lower voltages for individual customers.

Prime Mover
An engine, turbine, or water wheel that drives or operates an electric generator.

Purchased Power
Power purchased from other utilities.
