Tap Line
A line that has one source of feed.

Temporary Power Pole (TPP)
A-self supporting pole of timber of proper dimensions, provided by the customer, to support SCE's service wires and meter. It is generally used for construction purposes.

Terminal Chamber
Point of attachment for line and load wires to attach to any "A" base meter.

The Utility Reform Network (TURN)
This San Francisco-based consumer group was founded more than 25 years ago. It claims to advocate for California utility consumers by participating in CPUC proceedings and other activities.

Three-Phase
A generator or circuit delivering these voltages that are one third of a cycle apart in reaching their maximum value.

Three-Phase Bank
Two or more single transformers connected to serve a three-phase circuit.

Three-Phase Motor
An alternating current motor that is operated from a three-phase circuit.

Tidal Energy
Refers to the production of electricity using the regular ebb and flow of the ocean tides. The tides are directed through reversible turbines in a dam which turn generators to produce electricity.

Time-of-Use (TOU)
A TOU rate gives customers the option of operating during off-peak periods to reduce energy costs. SCE off-peak hours are from 6 PM to 10 AM the following day.

Transformer
A device used to change alternating current from one voltage to another.

Transformer Oil
Oil used in a transformer to insulate the windings and carry- away the heat.

Transformer Ratio
The ratio of primary to the secondary voltages.

Transition Cost Balancing Account (TCBA)
The TCBA tracks the stranded costs and the revenues received from all sources to pay off those costs.

Transition Revenue Account (TRA)
Revenue from the monthly bills paid by all customers goes into this account and is then used to pay the authorized costs of distribution, transmission, public purpose programs and nuclear decommissioning and other miscellaneous costs. The remaining amount of money left in the TRA is used to pay for the cost of purchasing energy from the California Power Exchange. Any money remaining in the TRA after energy purchases is referred to as the "headroom" revenue and is transferred to the TCBA to pay off the stranded costs. If the headroom revenue is negative, meaning that SCE's operating costs and purchase power costs exceed its billed revenue, then the TRA will have a negative balance, which currently cannot be transferred to the TCBA and continues to be carried forward.

Transmission Line
High-voltage conductor used to carry electrical power from one place to another.

Transmission System

Trustee
A person appointed by the court to attempt reorganization of a bankrupt concern or designated by the debtor with instructions to liquidate or administer the business.
