Underground
Those lines and apparatus below ground, in vaults or manholes, or directly buried in the ground itself.

Underground Cable
An insulated cable placed in an underground conduit.

Utility Distribution Company (UDC)
A distribution wires business and a regulated retailer that serves end-use customers. Southern California Edison, Pacific Gas & Electric and San Diego Gas & Electric are UDCs.
