Vice President, Regulatory Operations
Megan Scott-Kakures is vice president of Regulatory Operations for Southern California Edison (SCE), one of the nation’s largest investor-owned electric utilities. She is responsible for all state and federal ratemaking issues, including SCE’s General Rate Case, development of regulated pricing structures, design and interpretation of tariffs, and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission-related issues such as transmission and reliability service rates.
Scott-Kakures also leads the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) Strategic Review, supporting the company’s internal nuclear management team and responsible for coordinating regulatory, commercial, financial and legal issues related to SONGS.
Previously she was vice president and general auditor of SCE and its parent company Edison International. She was responsible for oversight of the company’s internal audits department and the execution of the internal audit function.
She has also served as assistant general counsel in the SCE law department, where she supervised regulatory work for the company before the California Public Utilities Commission relating to distribution service, energy procurement, customer rates, and affiliate transactions. She joined the company in 1994.
Scott-Kakures received her B.A. from Claremont McKenna College and her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School. After law school she was a law clerk for a federal judge and then was a commercial litigation attorney.
She currently serves on the board of Claremont Graduate University. Scott-Kakures is a past president and board member of the Conference of California Public Utility Counsel.
