$19.7 Million Donated to Local Non-Profit Programs
Last year, we gave $19.7 million to community organizations that help change lives in underserved communities.
Our Total Community Impact: $28 Million
Our corporate donations and scholarship funds, together with the donations and volunteering of our employees, added up to $28 million of giving back to the community last year.
A Long Tradition of Investing in the Community
More than 85% of our donations are designed to help create new opportunities to thrive. At Edison, we’ve been giving back for more than 125 years.
Making a Difference in the Community
We’re committed to addressing important issues like education, the environment, public safety & emergency preparedness, and civic engagement. Last year we gave $19.7 million to community programs that make a difference in these areas, along with $3.1 million in STEM scholarships to help students earn degrees and contribute to future innovation. More than two-thirds of our donations are focused on helping diverse ethnic groups, seniors, people with disabilities, women, gay and lesbian populations, and low-income families – all groups that are underserved.
Collaborating With the Community: Our 2013 Report
Our annual Community Investment Report offers a snapshot of the variety of partners we support, and the impact being made by these partnerships. The stories shared here highlight some of the very outstanding work our community partners are doing to improve the quality of life in the community.
At Edison International, we believe that our role goes beyond our core mission of safely providing reliable and affordable electricity. We believe we have a common mission with the communities we serve.
Our Community Grants Program
Our Community Grants Program provides grants up to $5,000 to nonprofit organizations whose missions and programs support our four priority areas:
This year, there is a change to the community grant application cycle. Unlike in the past, when we had 3 grant application periods, this year, there will be only two:
- March 1 - 31, 2015
- June 1 - 30, 2015
Scholarships for STEM Students
Our signature scholarship program helps underrepresented students pursue higher education in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields.
