Last Updated: December 6, 2013

Edison International (“EIX”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) wants you to know about the information we collect and use when you are visiting our website, either on your computer or mobile device. We realize you expect EIX to appropriately use and protect your Personal Information from unauthorized access.

When you visit our website there are different types of information we may collect:

1. Aggregated Non-Personal Information.

“Non-Personal Information” means information that does not uniquely identify an individual.  This Non-Personal Information is maintained by us in the aggregate, so that we do not know the identity of any particular user.

In order to improve your website experience, we may monitor how many users visit our website, how many use mobile devices to access our website, how users navigate through our website, a user’s Internet Service Provider, and which Internet browsers they use to access our website.

2. Personal Information that you voluntarily provide.

We define Personal Information as any information used alone or combined with other information that can be used to uniquely identify, contact or locate an individual or groups of individuals. Generally, this includes individual or employer names, home addresses, telephone numbers, social security numbers, driver’s license or identification card numbers, bank routing and account numbers, email addresses, user names, passwords, and security question answers.

We do not collect any Personal Information through your access or use of our website unless you voluntarily provide it to us.  You may provide us with Personal Information when you sign up for certain services on the EIX website, such as e-mail alerts or requests for information, which will be used to fulfill your request.

At any time, you may opt out of providing us with any such Personal Information by not providing it to us or by discontinuing your use of our website.

3. Information Collected by Cookies, Web Beacons, and Other Technologies.

We may use “cookies” and analogous technologies such as web beacons, pixel tags, locally shared objects and clear GIFs to collect Non-Personal Information to provide a more convenient experience for you. However, we do not collect your Personal Information to track your online activities on our site or any third-party website or online services over time.

Cookies: A “cookie” is a small bit of record-keeping information that websites often store on a user's computer. Our cookies do not collect Personal Information and are typically used to quickly identify your computer or mobile device to “remember” you. You can disable cookies or set your Internet browser to alert you when cookies are being sent to your computer’s browser or device; however, disabling cookies may affect your ability to use certain features on our website.

Web Beacons, pixel tags and clear GIFs: A “web beacon”, “pixel tag” or “clear GIF” is an electronic image that allows us to count users who have visited certain pages on our website. Web beacons, like cookies, do not collect Personal Information. Emails and other electronic communications we send to you may contain pixel tags that enable us to track your usage of  an electronic communication, including, for example, whether you opened the communication and/or followed a  link  in such communication (if any).

Most browsers are programed to accept cookies or other similar technology to collect non-personal data. You may set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie, providing you the opportunity to accept or decline it. Declining a cookie, or similar technology, will not negatively impact your website experience. You may stop accepting cookies from a particular website, or in general, by changing your browser’s settings, which are usually found in the ‘options’ or ‘preferences’ menu.

We do not disclose your Personal Information to third parties without your prior written consent, except in the following circumstances:

  • We are required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, or similar legal process; or
  • We believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to the request of a governmental agency.
