Stuart R. Hemphill is senior vice president of Power Supply for Southern California Edison (SCE), responsible for overseeing the development and operation of the company’s hydroelectric, solar, and natural gas generating plants; the procurement of conventional and renewable power contracts; and the planning, management, and dispatch of SCE’s overall resource portfolio.
Hemphill joined SCE in 1987 as an engineer, performing technical and economic analyses of transmission, distribution, generation, and energy efficiency programs. Previously, Hemphill was senior vice president of Power Procurement and prior to that position, vice president of Renewable and Alternative Power. He has also held management positions at Edison International and Southern California Edison in the strategic planning, resource planning, and business development organizations.
Hemphill serves on the Boards of the California Power Exchange, Ability First, and the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House. Stu is an advisor on the Dean’s Advisory Council for Cal Poly Pomona’s business school.
Hemphill earned an MBA at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at California State University, Fullerton.
