Senior Vice President, Power Procurement

Stuart R. Hemphill is senior vice president of Power Procurement for Southern California Edison (SCE), one of the nation’s largest electric utilities.
Hemphill is responsible for overseeing the procurement of conventional and renewable power contracts, resource planning, and the management and dispatch of SCE’s overall power resource portfolio.
Prior to his current position, Hemphill was vice president of Renewable and Alternative Power for Southern California Edison where he was responsible for the management and growth of the company’s portfolio of renewable and alternative power contracts and policy matters related to renewable and alternative resources.
Hemphill has also held management positions at Edison International and Southern California Edison in strategic planning, resource planning, and business development organizations, where he led initiatives related to new businesses, acquisitions, and other investments.
Hemphill joined SCE in 1987 as an engineer where he performed technical and economic analyses of transmission, distribution, generation, and energy efficiency programs. He holds an MBA from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from California State University, Fullerton. He is a board member for UCLA Extension’s Environmental Sustainability program.
