As acting chief financial officer and senior vice present of Financial & Operational Services for Southern California Edison (SCE), Hemphill is responsible for the company’s financial management and fiscal integrity. He directs both corporate and business unit financial, strategic, regulatory, planning, treasury, accounting, risk management, and control functions. He is also responsible for the company’s general rate case with the California Public Utilities Commission.
As senior vice president of Power Supply at SCE, Hemphill is responsible for overseeing the development and operation of the company’s hydroelectric, solar, and natural gas generating plants; the procurement of conventional and renewable power contracts; and the planning, management, and dispatch of SCE’s overall resource portfolio.
Hemphill joined SCE in 1987 as an engineer, performing technical and economic analyses of transmission, distribution, generation, and energy efficiency programs. Previously, Hemphill was senior vice president of Power Procurement and prior to that position, vice president of Renewable and Alternative Power. He has also held management positions at Edison International and SCE in the strategic planning, resource planning, and business development organizations.
Hemphill serves on the Boards of the California Power Exchange, The Huntington Library, AbilityFirst, and the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House.
Hemphill earned an MBA at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at California State University, Fullerton.
