Russell C. Swartz is senior vice president and general counsel for Southern California Edison (SCE). He is responsible for all legal matters associated with SCE.
He joined SCE in 1993 as a senior attorney, concentrating on independent generator-related matters. He was elected to serve as an assistant general counsel in April 2002 and to the position of vice president and associate general counsel in February 2010, and in both capacities managed the company’s litigation.
Prior to joining SCE, Swartz was a partner in the litigation department of a commercial law firm. He began his legal career as a law clerk for Judge Joan Demsey Klein in the California Court of Appeals in Los Angeles.
Swartz serves on the board of directors of the Civil Justice Association of California. He is also a member of the Editorial Advisory Board to California Lawyer magazine and serves as SCE’s representative to the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity.
Swartz earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Southern California and a law degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.
