Edison Mission Group (EMG)

John Finneran is senior vice president and chief financial officer for Edison Mission Group (EMG), the competitive generation business of Edison International.

Previously, Finneran was the senior vice president for Business Management with responsibility for managing EMG partnerships in various power generation projects, information technology, the Enterprise Resource Planning project that is implementing new business process systems across EMG, and managing Edison Capital’s investment portfolio.  Finneran joined EMG in 1999 as vice president and regional chief financial officer for the Americas Region of EMG unit Edison Mission Energy.

Finneran previously was senior vice president of finance and treasurer of Richfood Holdings, a Fortune 500 food retail and wholesale distribution company.  Finneran also previously served as chief financial officer and treasurer of Dominion Energy, the independent power subsidiary of Dominion Resources, and vice president and treasurer of Potomac Capital Investment Corporation, a subsidiary of Potomac Electric Power Company.  His earlier experience included a senior management position at an equipment leasing company and various responsibilities with the “Big Five” accounting firms Price Waterhouse and KPMG.

Finneran earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Siena College; a master’s degree in accounting from George Washington University; and did post-graduate studies in finance at George Mason University.  A certified public accountant, Finneran has served as an adjunct professor of finance at Georgetown University’s Graduate School of Foreign Services, where he taught both project finance and international finance courses. Before that, he was an adjunct professor of accounting at Northern Virginia College.
