Douglas Bauder is vice president of Decommissioning and Chief Nuclear Officer at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS). He is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the planned decommissioning of the plant.
Prior to this position, Bauder served as vice president of Operational Services, Safety, Security, Business Resiliency and Chief Procurement Officer at Southern California Edison (SCE). In this role, Bauder managed the company’s extensive safety and security programs, as well as business resiliency and procurement activies. As Chief Procurement Officer for SCE, he managed expenditures for materials and services in excess of $4 billion annually.
Bauder also served as vice president and station manager for SONGS, responsible for the strategic oversight of the plant operation and maintenance, including procurement activities. He joined SCE in February 2009 as plant manager for SONGS, responsible for day-to-day plant activities associated with the operation and maintenance of SONGS.
Prior to joining SCE, Bauder served as plant general manager for Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant in Maryland. During his 20 years at Calvert Cliffs, he handled all aspects of plant management and implemented a site excellence plan and standard integrated program that directly contributed to improved human business performance functions.
Bauder served as a United States Naval Submarine Officer in Norfolk, Virginia.
