Steven Powell is executive vice president, Operations, at Southern California Edison (SCE), one of the nation’s largest electric utilities. He leads many of SCE’s operations groups—including Transmission & Distribution, Customer Service, Safety, Security, and Business Resiliency, and Operational Services—and is responsible for serving over 5 million customers with safe, reliable, clean, and affordable electricity. Previously, Powell served as senior vice president of Strategy, Planning and Operational Performance at SCE. In this role he was responsible for developing SCE’s long-term strategy, identifying and executing strategic projects, prioritizing technology development, integrated resource planning, and driving operational improvements. Powell has held a variety of positions of progressing responsibility since joining the company in 2000, including leadership positions in resource planning and strategy, gas and power procurement and SCE’s plug-in electric vehicle readiness efforts. Powell also served as director of Strategic Planning at Edison International, the parent company of SCE, developing and executing growth strategies in new businesses for the company. He has a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and received his MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management.
